Principlev1
When a purpose survives difficulty without depleting energy,
When a purpose survives difficulty without depleting energy, interpret the sustained difficulty as evidence of genuine alignment rather than as a signal to quit.
Why This Is a Principle
This derives from Satisfying the psychological needs of autonomy, competence, (intrinsic motivation from need satisfaction), The three basic psychological needs are autonomy, (basic psychological needs), and Suffering that is interpreted as meaningful has different (meaningful suffering has different consequences than meaningless suffering). The principle prescribes an interpretation rule for difficulty that prevents premature abandonment.
