Regulatory flexibility—the ability to shift between
Regulatory flexibility -- the ability to shift between strategies based on context -- predicts better psychological outcomes than consistent use of any single strategy.
Why This Is an Axiom
This is Bonanno's core research finding. It is an empirical claim based on outcome studies showing that strategy-switching ability, not strategy quality, predicts wellbeing. This cannot be derived from knowing what individual strategies do—it required comparative research.
