Make undiscussable topics discussable by naming the avoidance explicitly before attempting to engage with the avoided content.
Why This Is a Principle
Derives from Automaticity Without Conscious Control (automatic processes without awareness) and Verbal labeling of internal states activates prefrontal (verbal labeling activates regulatory circuitry). Argyris's concept of 'undiscussability of the undiscussable' describes the problem; this principle prescribes the solution: metacognitive naming to interrupt automatic avoidance.
