Why This Is a Principle
This is a principle derived from Categories Are Human Constructions (categories are constructed for purposes) and the temporal dimension of classification systems. It prescribes a specific maintenance practice: documenting purpose alongside categories. This is more general than a rule (applies across all classification systems) but more specific than the axiom (tells you what to do).
