Principlev1
Build perceptual detection capacity before attempting
Build perceptual detection capacity before attempting regulation—you cannot modulate signals you cannot identify.
Why This Is a Principle
This principle follows from Attention as Gate to Conscious Perception (attention as prerequisite for perception), Consciousness Requires Global Neural Integration (conscious awareness requires activation), and working memory constraints (Working Memory Capacity Limit). It's a sequencing principle: detection must precede regulation. Not itself an axiom about how awareness works, but a derived principle about order of skill development.
